6" diameter Bamboo Skimmer/Strainer

Stainless Steel Strainer Skimmer
Use this handy Asian Stainless Steel Strainer (skimmer or scooper) when deep-fat frying wantons, fish, egg rolls, noodles and appetizers. Its round shape is perfectly suited for use with a wok. It's also great for quick boiling noodles and dumplings.
Easily scoop out the cooked foods and allow to strain and cool right in the skimmer. The advantage of using the metal skimmer for draining is that crispness will be retained instead of draining directly on paper towels. Allow to cool before using unbleached brown paper towels if desired (white paper towels are laced with oil-soluble carcinogenic dioxin).

Thai Hot Pot Soup Bowl
Thai soups are not only easy to make, but also very healthy. The ingredients are fairly few in most soup recipes and preparations steps are minimal. Cooking time is short, unlike soup recipes from other parts of the globe. With shorter cooking times, vitamins are retained and preparation time is reduced, freeing up the busy chef. The inclusion of fresh herbs like lemongrass, galangal and fresh hot chilies give many health benefits such as aiding the digestion.
Soup is an important part of Thai cuisine and is served almost daily with the rest of the meal (not as a first course) and sipped between bites of other dishes. At a family-style meal, everyone shares from the serving bowl by spooning some of the soup into his own spoon. In the restaurants of Thailand, soup will most often come in a soup tureen, such as this Thai Hot Pot Soup Bowl. Charcoal, a candle or can of Sterno keeps the soup piping hot. The hot soup is spooned into small soup bowls for each diner.

Fish Grill
Thailand is famous for its seafood and fresh fish dishes. Steamed and saucy fish recipes are favorite ways to prepare fish, making this deep platter perfect for catching all the delicious flavors and aromas. Fish is often served whole with the head and tail in Asia because the head of a fresh fish is especially appreciated for its sweet meat and is often reserved for the guest of honor.
Simple presentations such as whole fish steamed with lemongrass and garnished with chopped spicy Thai chilies, fish sauce and slices of lime or lemon is one example of a common Thai fish dish. More elaborate presentations may include frying the fish whole and preparing a separate sweet and sour tamarind sauce which is poured over the crispy fish

Sticky Rice Serving Baskets
Homes and restaurants in the North and Northeast of Thailand usually serve steamed sticky rice in these covered small round baskets (ga tip in Thai), placing them around the dining table. This keeps the sticky rice warm and moist, allowing the rice to breath. Sometimes these Rice Storage Boxes or Baskets are lined with small plastic sandwich bags to make clean up easier.  These baskets are perfect for picnics and kids who love sticky rice will love it even more when served their own little basket of rice.
You can also use these bamboo baskets throughout the house for storing small items. Each basket has a lid and bottom.
To remove any odor before using allow the basket to sit for a few days with a baking soda and water paste. Then scrub and rinse well before using.

Bamboo Steamer
A Bamboo Steamer (rang theung in Thai) is used for steaming in a wok and extends the utility of your wok (it is best to have a seperate wok for steaming so as not to remove the black patina of long use). The tiered steamer is set over rapidly boiling water and the lattice work bottom of the tiers allow steam to circulate throughout the two layers. The double layer allows for more then one dish to be steamed at time, saving time and fuel. Food can be placed either directly on the bamboo tray, as for dim sum or on a heat-proof plate set inside of the steamer tray, such as for steaming fish or vegetables. Use this steamer for steaming Chinese buns, wontons, vegetables and fish. Steaming can also be a healthy way to warm up leftovers (instead of the microwave).
To clean the steamer, soak in warm water removing any food particles with a brush, do not use detergents as they may seep into the natural bamboo fibers. Drip dry and store in a dry place. Check for mold before using and if needed soak in a solution of baking soda and warm water.

Sizzling Platter
Sizzling Platter cooking is becoming popular in restaurants specializing in Asian and especially Japanese foods and it is used for dishes like Sizzling Beef with Rice Curry, Udon Noodles, Beef Steak with Teriyaki Sauce, Tonkatsu, Hamburger with Egg and Yakisoba. In Japan a growing restaurant chain called Pepper Lunch specializes in these type of dishes and has expanded to Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia. They say the secret to their success is that meat grilled at a high temperature, remains tender and juicy, while the iron plate keeps the food warm for a longer time so that their customers can enjoy the full flavor of the dish.
